Finally (!!!) I can announce what I have been working on for the last half year! :)

OMEGATECH!!!

I am part of the awesome team at Megaworld Studios now as concept artist, and made the design for the mechs, environment as well as most of the textures.

And the splashsite pic, which I am allowed to show here now!

It is all painted in photoshop with the 3D models from the mechs as underlays. The whole painting is 7087 × 5315 pixels, and details have been made with a 3 pixel brush!

Took me, overall and with some changes about 50 hours, nearly half of it spent on the main mech. Biggest, most detailed pic I ever made until today.

Small reactor-kinda-thingy. This started out with no real plan, just a loose idea. I actually painted it in some yellowish green, but changed it to blue in the end.

Well, practice for today done. :)

About 1 relaxing hour, I didn't hurry here...

Started with no idea what to do, turned out to be some landscape thing, and finally decided to stick with a blueish hue, so ice it is.

About 1 hour, but about 45 min after I knew where I was going...

Decided to make a daily speedpainting whenever possible to practice my insufficient understanding of light and composition. I will post them single or in groups, but here comes the first one.

I still have problems deciding on a scene and carrying it through, so for this one I found an amazing pic for inspiration. Took a good long look at it and tried it by myself then.

Was a while since I had time for something like this... Just for relaxing in the evening a destroyed city, a mech, and local civilians apparently with spray cans... ;)

Spent the evening on it, got distracted by some stuff, but I guess 3 hours...

Mech at dawn in the countryside...

Again, my nighttime relaxation, even though this was kinda hard.

I had all the background in about an hour, and then it took me about 10 (!!!) tries to fit the mech in the scenery! :(

Guess I've been something between tired, unfocused and lazy :D

Well, that's how it goes sometimes... on to the next! :)

I made some pics in the process, so if anyone is interested in the steps, let me know... For what you see about 2 hours, but the whole process more than 3 hours...

Again a city-scene, got the idea sometime today, and wanted to try it in the evening. Doesn't work the way I intended, there is definitely something missing, but I can't put my finger on it!

Well, on to the next! :)

Not sure, spend the evening on it, so I'd guess 3-4 hours with a lot of experimenting...

Two mechs fighting it out at the beach...

I had this pic in my mind for about two weeks now, finally managed to get a good day and put it out halfway ok... I actually wanted to make 3D-models for it to get the perspective perfectly, and probably will get this done sometime too, but for the moment it's ok...

I'm still lacking the immense depth and action some of the guys out there manage, but it's just me practicing... Hopefully getting better... :)

How I made the pic "day at the beach"...

This is definitely not to show off my far from perfect skills, but actually to let way better artists see the progress, and hopefully to get some good advice!

But I'm glad if it helps a few of you guys out there! :)

First two sketches are made with iPad, wacom bamboo stylus and artrage, 15 and 30 min, below a rough 5 min ballpoint-sketch, then five photoshop-sketches, about 15 min each, and then four pics from the actual pic in progress...

All of them to practice the scenery and light I had in mind. Still not how I wanted it to be, but at least getting better... Practice...

Well, I'm getting 30 next week (yeah, it's scary O_o), and made a pic for the occasion...

I had an idea what I wanted to do, but no real setting yet. I had a vague memory of a special pic in my favs, which would have been a perfect template.

Found it, downloaded it, copied the whole composition and even used the colour-picker! normally a no-go, but I just didn't get the colours right :(

Learned a lot here again... The usual when you really go deep into a way better artists work!

Just for fun and relaxation, and trying some new of my hundreds of brushes. Sometime at the end of next year I'll probably know them all ;)...

Actually made this one in a yellowish colour, but I liked the green hue better in the end. Hurray for adjustment layers! :D

Something between 1 and 2 hours...

First halfway working sketch made with my brand new ipad 2 (yeah!!!). Used Wacom bamboo stylus and procreate for it. First day I use it, and it is still weird... A bit like the first steps with my Wacom intuos 3, and I really do miss my myriads of brushes! But I will get used to it soon I guess, and it's great for on-the-go-sketching! :)

From now on I will point it out whenever a sketch or painting is made with the ipad.

Made this one after a screenshot from the video-game resistance. I never played it myself, but completely fell in love with the goliath mech. I found some awesome pics of it, and started remaking one, which you will find here for comparison:

Made this one for a small speedpainting contest with the task to make a pic showing how mankind will live in the year 10011. I personally think this is too far ahead to imagine (who would have thought of the internet in old egypt), but I tried...

This one really gave me a hard time, just couldn't put it together today. Really showed me again how much I still have to learn...
